Do It Best Corp. is a hardware store retailers' cooperative. It was founded as Hardware Wholesalers, Inc (HWI) in 1945 in Fort Wayne, Indiana by Arnold H. Gerberding along with 75 dealers who would become members and invest $1,000 in exchange for shares of stock in the company. Donald Wolf was CEO during a period of rapid growth. The headquarters of Do It Best Corp. are located in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
HWI took its present name in 1998. Today, Do it Best Corp. has over 4,100 members in every state of the USA and in 47 countries, with sales of more than $3 billion (US).[1]
